Park University Promotes Pasley to Dean of College of Liberal Arts and Sciences

Parkville, Mo.—May 1, 2017 — James (Jamie) F. Pasley, Ph.D., has been promoted to the position of dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Park University. He began his new duties on May 1.

Pasley, a resident of Kansas City, Mo., has spent his entire career in higher education, including the last 11 years at Park University. He served the University the previous nine months as the interim dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Pasley began his career at Park in 2006 as associate professor of political science before being promoted to the rank of professor of political science (a position he continues to maintain) in 2013.

As dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, Pasley will oversee two schools — the School of Liberal Arts and the School of Natural and Applied Sciences — as well as the University’s International Center for Music. In his role, Pasley’s main responsibilities will be to establish and implement strategic plans for CLAS, ensure the integrity, quality and value of CLAS’ academic degrees, and develop new programs for CLAS. Pasley will manage approximately 50 full-time and 500 adjunct faculty that teach about 6,500 CLAS majors across the country.

“Dr. Pasley’s depth and breadth of knowledge of Park University, and his experience and leadership, have prepared him well for this opportunity,” said Doug Fiore, Ph.D., Park University provost and vice president for academic affairs. “He has demonstrated the leadership skills, humility and cooperation needed to serve successfully as the next dean of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.”
