APSA Rita Mae Kelly Fund: Support Gender, Race, and Ethnicity Research in Political Science

The Rita Mae Kelly Fund, established in affiliation with the Women’s Caucus for Political Science, the Committee on the Status of Latinos/Latinas in the Professor, the Race, Ethnicity, and Politics Organized Section, and the Women and Politics Organized section, is administered by APSA’s Centenial Center for Political Science and Public Affairs. The fund supports research grants and travel grants for outstanding scholars focused on the intersection of gender, race, ethnicity, and political power.

The fund was established in memory of Rita Mae Kelly, a distinguished scholar of gender and politics. Dr. Kelly was the Andrew R. Cecil Distinguished Chair in Applied Ethics at the University of Texas at Dallas. She was also founding director of the Center for Empowerment and Global-Local Equity at the University of Texas at Dallas, and dean of the university’s School of Social Sciences from 2000 to 2001. She was the author or co-author of more than 13 books, including Gender Power, Leadership and Governance.
